If you're trying to import products from Zendrop into your Wix store and running into a 400 or 428 error, you're not alone and it's not a Zendrop bug. Wix is rejecting the import because your store has hit its limit for product options or customizations. Here's what's happening and how to fix it.
What the error means
You might see one of these messages:
HTTP request returned status code 400: {"message": "product is invalid: productOptions [at index 0] is invalid: choices [at index 0] is invalid..."
HTTP request returned status code 428: {"message": "too many options for site", "details": {"applicationError": {"code": "OPTIONS_LIMIT_EXCEEDED"..."}
Both errors come directly from Wix, not Zendrop. Wix has enforced platform-wide limits on product options to keep stores stable and fast. When your store is at or near those limits, new imports with variants (like color or size) get blocked.
Wix Stores platform limits
To keep your store usable and fast, Wix enforces these limits:
Limit | Cap |
Total products | 50,000 |
Product options per product | 6 (e.g., color, size, material) |
Choices per product option | 100 (e.g., individual color values) |
Variants per product | 1,000 |
When you approach a limit, Wix notifies you in the Stores Dashboard. When you exceed one, imports fail with the errors above.
How to fix it
Clean up your Wix product catalog before trying to import again. Focus on removing products that have multiple variants or options, these are the ones eating into your limit.
Log in to your Wix account and go to your Wix Stores Dashboard.
Navigate to Products and sort by variant count or option count.
Delete old, unused, or failed test imports, especially any products with color or size variants you no longer need.
Once you've freed up room, return to Zendrop and try the import again.
Note
Products with multiple variants (color, size, etc.) are most likely to trigger this error. Single-variant products are less likely to hit the limit, but if your store is near capacity, even those may fail. Reduce your optioned products first, then import.
Still seeing the error?
If you've cleaned up your catalog and imports are still failing, your store may still be at or near the limit. Keep removing products with options until Wix clears the block. The more variants a product has, the more it counts toward your total.
Once your catalog is under the limit, your Zendrop imports will go through as normal. Start with single-variant products to confirm the fix, then work up to multi-option products.
