How Does Personalization Work for Zendrop Products?

How product personalization and customization works?

If you're selling personalized products through Zendrop, it's important to know how personalization works, and what Zendrop does (and doesn't) handle automatically.

Does Zendrop Support Product Personalization?

Zendrop does offer product customization in specific cases, but customer-generated personalization (such as engraving, initials, names, or custom messages) is not supported, even for Print-on-Demand (POD) products.


Print-on-Demand (POD) Products

Zendrop’s Print-on-Demand (POD) feature allows you to create custom-designed products using the design builder before importing them into your store.

With POD, you can add:

  • Text created by the merchant

  • Graphics and illustrations

  • Colors and design elements

However, POD does not support dynamic personalization from customers. This means the following is not available:

  • Engraving based on customer input

  • Customer names or initials entered at checkout

  • Custom messages submitted by buyers

  • Any other customer-provided text or real-time personalization

The final design is fixed at the time of publishing, and all customers receive the same pre-designed version of the product.


Non-POD Products

For products that are not part of the POD catalog, customization, whether for the product itself or packaging is not available through standard Zendrop fulfillment.

These options are only available through Zendrop’s Private Agent Program, which is designed for high-volume sellers.

Available services may include:

  • Product customization

  • Private labeling

  • Custom packaging

  • Branded inserts

  • Other supplier-specific custom solutions

These services typically require bulk purchasing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), upfront production costs, and consistent sales volume.


What Is the Private Agent Program?

The Private Agent Program is designed for high-volume merchants who require advanced sourcing and branding solutions.

To qualify, sellers typically need to meet requirements such as:

  • Bulk purchasing commitments

  • Minimum order quantities (MOQs)

  • Upfront production and manufacturing costs

  • Consistent sales volume

Because of these requirements, customization and branding services are only available to approved merchants enrolled in the program.

Product Information Imported to Shopify

When importing a product from the Zendrop catalog into Shopify, only standard product details are transferred:

  • Product title

  • Product description

  • Product images

  • Product variants (such as size or color)

Zendrop does not automatically add personalization fields (such as custom text boxes or customer input fields) to Shopify product pages.


Important Limitation

Zendrop does not currently support automatic syncing of personalization inputs collected on Shopify (for example: engraving names, initials, custom messages, or other customer-provided text).


Alternative Branding Options

If you are not eligible for the Private Agent Program, you can still enhance your customer experience using available branding features in Zendrop.

One option includes:

  • Custom Branded Thank You Cards — Add a personalized message to orders to create a more professional and branded unboxing experience without requiring custom packaging or bulk inventory.


Summary

  1. Zendrop does not support customer-provided personalization (e.g., names, initials, engraving, or custom messages), even in POD.

  2. POD products allow merchant-created designs only, which are fixed before publishing.

  3. Non-POD customization is only available through the Private Agent Program.

  4. Shopify personalization fields do not sync to Zendrop.

  5. Zendrop imports only standard product data into Shopify.
