What Happens When You Change a SKU and How to Fix Linking Issues

Managing product SKU's.

Changing a SKU breaks the link between your store and Zendrop, which stops automatic fulfillment for affected variants. Here's what happens and how to fix it fast.

How SKU changes affect fulfillment

Zendrop uses SKUs to match your store's product variants to the right items in its catalog. When you change a SKU without updating the mapping in Zendrop, that connection breaks and affected orders won't fulfill automatically. You can restore it with two steps:

  • After changing the SKU, verify that all variants are still correctly linked between your store and Zendrop.

  • Check the Orders dashboard in Zendrop to confirm existing orders are correctly associated. Edit any that aren't.

Linking multiple variants

If you want to add a variant that's available in Zendrop but not yet in your store (for example, a different color or bundle size), here's how to do it:

  • Add the new variant to your product in your store (Shopify, Wix, TikTok Shop, ClickFunnels, or whichever platform you use).

  • Paste the SKU for that variant into the matching variant field.

  • Map the variant to its corresponding product in Zendrop.

If a variant ends up linked to the wrong Zendrop product, unlink it and relink it to the correct one. That's all it takes to fix a bad mapping.

Check your linked products in the Zendrop Dashboard any time you update SKUs to make sure every variant is still mapped correctly.
